Voestalpine reopens the second blast furnace

Austrian steelmaker Voestalpine announced that its Donavitz plant has restarted a second blast furnace to meet current orders, which can produce approximately 750,000 tonnes of pig iron per year.

Voestalpine said the Donawitz plant has a total production capacity of approximately 1.5 million tonnes per year. With five blast furnaces in operation, the total production capacity is about 5 million tons of pig iron per year.
