NLMK expands its range of coated steel products

Following the reconstruction of the Lipetsk mill last year, the company expanded its capacity to produce zinc-coated flat products. Thus, the company can now produce rolled galvanized steel with a thickness of up to 4 mm, a width of up to 1820 mm, with a yield point of up to 450 n /mm sq, with a zinc coating class of up to 600 g /sq m.

NLMK does not stop there. Today, the R&D Center of the company is testing zinc-aluminum-magnesium coated rolled products. The presence of MgZn and MgZn compounds provides increased corrosion resistance and mechanical strength.

Increased corrosion resistance is achieved due to the presence of a developed "mesh" inside the coating, which increases the path of oxygen and moisture penetration to the protected steel. This ensures less adhesion of the coating to the tool when cutting and stamping such rolled products.
On this basis, NLMK will also develop pre-painted steel products.
