US crude steel production plummets

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), for the week ending August 28, crude steel production in the United States was about 1.87 million tonnes, down 0.2% from the same period a week ago, and also an increase of 26 , 9% over the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 84.9%, decreasing 0.1% weekly and increasing 19% year on year.

As of the week ending August 28, crude steel production in the United States this year was about 62.05 million tonnes, up 20% from a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 80.5%, an increase of 13.9% over the same period last year.
