According to the World Steel Association (worldsteel), Turkey produced about 3.2 million tons of crude steel in May, down 5.9% from the previous month and down 1.14% from the same month last year. .
In total, Turkey produced about 16 million tons of crude steel in the first five months of 2022, down 2.8% from the same period a year earlier.
Energy prices in Turkey have been raised since June 1 and are expected to rise in July, coupled with a slowdown in the market, which could lead to further declines in crude steel production in the coming months.
