The managing director of the largest Indian metallurgical company Tata Steel Himant Madhasudan Nerurkar said today that his company expects the next financial year, starting from April 1, 2013, the growth of steel sales and metal production in the European Union by 2.5%.
“We expect a modest growth against the background of a fall in production volumes this year,” Mr. Nerurkar emphasized. As you know, Tata Steel suffered significant financial losses in the last quarter of 2012 due to weak demand for steel. Economic reforms declared by the Indian government will help accelerate GDP growth and increase domestic demand, according to Tata Steel.
"In 2013 - 2014, the internal demand for steel in India will increase by 7% and amount to about 80 million tons," said Tata Steel, managing director of the metallurgical company. "India will take an accounting second place in the world for the production of steel and metal rolling," said Mr. Nerurkar.
