Metalworking is a necessary part of the processing of metal blanks, with the help of which the part is given the necessary shape and size for its subsequent use.
Modern metalworking is divided into types:
1. Mechanical metalworking is the most widespread and basic type of metalworking. Mechanical processing, in turn, is divided into types: cutting, grinding, polishing, deformation by cutting, plastic deformation. Such work is carried out using special equipment (lathes, thread turning, milling, cutting, planing, etc.), in order to obtain parts or blanks, taking into account subsequent processing.
2. Turning work - these types of work involve metalworking by cutting, turning. With the help of turning, boring, turning, drilling, threading, end machining are done. For this, lathes are used (turret lathes, relief lathes, etc.).
3. Milling - this type of metalworking is carried out using a milling machine. There are milling machines - universal, horizontal, longitudinal and cantilever milling. With the help of milling machines, tools, stamps and other metal products are made.
4. Locksmith work - locksmith work is performed manually, mostly without the use of machines, but some machines and tools (bending machine, welding machine, grinder, etc.) can also be used in some cases. The following tool is used in plumbing work - tap, die, file, scraper, barb, chisel, etc.
5. Thermal metal processing - as a result of this processing, the physical and mechanical properties of metal products are changed in accordance with the tasks set. Heat treatment is divided into types:
- thermal effect on the metal (annealing, hardening, normalization, cold treatment);
- chemical-thermal (with its help, the reliability and wear resistance of metal blanks is increased, and its essence is that the metal is heated while being in a chemical environment);
- thermomechanical (improves product properties, oxidation resistance, durability and occurs when a metal product is subjected, in sequence, to heating, plastic deformation and cooling).
7. Welding work - with the help of this type of metalworking, parts are joined, alloys are made.
8. Grinding slave
