German long steel manufacturer Saarstahl AG announced that its subsidiary DWK Drahtwerk Köln GmbH (DWK) has renewed its long-term cooperation agreement with power equipment manufacturer Max Bögl Wind AG, expanding a partnership that has been in place since 2015.
The updated agreement increases supply and procurement volumes, while deepening strategic cooperation between the companies as demand for wind energy infrastructure continues to grow across Europe.
Prestressing steel critical for hybrid wind turbine towers
Under the agreement, Max Bögl will continue to provide long-term supplies of prestressing steel wires used in the towers hybrid wind turbines. These high-strength wires are applied to concrete tower structures to create tensile stress, improve structural stability, durability, and resistance to operational loads such as wind pressure and turbine rotational forces.
High-performance long steel products are critical components of large-scale renewable energy installations, especially as wind projects move to larger turbines and more rigid structural requirements requirements.
