Brazil exported 2,355 metric tons of cold-rolled coils (CRC) in July and imported 5,475 tons, up from 13,000 tons of exports and 36,300 tons of imports in June, according to Secex, the foreign trade secretariat of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
In July, ArcelorMittal exported 1,405,000 tons at a price of $1,293 per ton and 456,000 tons at a price of $964 per ton to Argentina, while Usiminas shipped 448,000 tons at a price of $989 per ton to Argentina and 46 tons at a price of $710 per ton to Paraguay on FOB terms.
Imports were carried out from Asia (5,359 tons at $632 per ton) and Europe (116 tons at $1,016 per ton), also on FOB terms.
Vietnam has become the leading supplier of CRC to Brazil, replacing South Korea, with shipments of 4,296 tons priced at $631 per ton. Earlier, South Korea outpaced China after Brazil imposed anti-dumping measures on Chinese CRC rolled products and coated flat rolled products in February.
