In the field of modern industrial production, the manual type Decker X5 bending machine is a popular and demanded model. Despite the apparent simplicity of the design, the machine can bend a painted metal sheet with a thickness of up to 0.8 mm inclusive, having great potential in terms of adjustment.

Setting the clamps of the bending machine

Before starting the bending operation of sheet metal, it is necessary to properly adjust the clamping of the workpiece. For this, the DECKER X5 machine has two eccentrics located at the edges of the clamping beam.

In the event that the metal is weakly clamped, the bend may be uneven, but the workpiece still needs to be restored. However, if a part is pinched, damage to the adjusting eccentrics, axles, bearings and other equipment parts may occur. In addition, under increased pressure, the edge of the workpiece is damaged, which leads to a deterioration in the overall appearance of the manufactured profile. With a professional clamping adjustment, this difficulty is eliminated by itself.

Bending radius: adjustment and control

The functional characteristics of the Decker X5 model make it possible to increase the bending radius of sheet steel. This operation is performed by lowering the traverse down.

To set the smallest radius, you need to make the following settings:

  • set the surface of the bending beam below the plane of the main level, taking into account the size of the workpiece;
  • check the position of the sheet for processing, observing the compliance of its thickness and minimum radius;
  • adjust the edges of the beam.

After adjustment, you can proceed directly to the bending process.

Shaping the product: adjusting the crosshead

Decker X5, being a representative of a well-known brand, is distinguished by its uniqueness and wide functionality. In addition to adjusting the radius, it is possible to adjust the shape. To shape the product, raise or lower the edge of the traverse. The process of changing the location of the edge allows you to compensate for the degree of deformation, which is recognized as convenient when processing alloys with a high stiffness index. Adjustment is possible with a Roman nut located on the handle.

This tuning method is the best option for setting up the machine with high accuracy. For the production of such operations, it is required to use three strips of metal, they should be pressed along the edges and in the middle. We perform bending and compare the results obtained.
