China reduced steel production by 2.8% in 8 months

In January-August, China reduced steel production by 2.8% compared to the same period a year earlier, to 671.81 million tons, according to the country's State Statistical Office.

In particular, in August, steel production decreased by 0.7% year-on-year to 77.37 million tons, which is the lowest level since December. The decrease was recorded for the third month in a row.

Pig iron production decreased by 1.1% to 579.1 million tons in eight months. In particular, in August, production amounted to 69.79 million tons, which is 1% more than in the same month a year earlier.
