Luxembourg-based steel pipe manufacturer Tenaris has announced it has signed a new three-year contract for the supply of conductors and casing products with Brazilian energy supplier Petrobras. The agreement, covering the period from 2027 to 2029, will support drilling operations in the Sub-Salt and Equatorial Basins, two of the most technically challenging maritime boundaries in the world.
The contract includes welded connectors equipped with automatic anti-rotation keys (AARK), technology designed for automatic, hands-free activation without special tools. This feature minimizes manual intervention, increasing both safety and efficiency during well construction.
The housings developed by Tenaris are designed to meet the extreme fatigue and fracture toughness requirements for offshore wells in Brazil, especially in sub-salt areas known for their high pressures and complex geology.
According to the Tenaris model The Rig Direct agreement covers the entire supply chain - from pipe preparation to delivery and field support. Scope of work includes:
- Pre-shipment inspection and repair
- Offshore preparation and logistics
- Drilling rig return management
- On-site technical support Tenaris Group
This end-to-end model will provide an optimized and traceable delivery process to Petrobras Offshore Operations.
