Japan’s Tokyo Steel increased revenue by 12.3% year on year to JPY 150.42 billion (about $958.35 million) in April-September 2026, while net profit on a non-consolidated basis fell 47.7% to JPY 2.39 billion ($15.22 million).
The company swung to an operating loss of JPY 3.54 billion ($22.57 million), compared with an operating profit of JPY 6.05 billion a year earlier. Gains from the sale of investment securities and non-current assets supported net profit. Tokyo Steel said its July-September performance was better than expected, as selling prices rose as anticipated and scrap purchasing costs came in below projections.
Steelmaking output rose 7.1% to 1.61 million mt, while rolled steel production increased 8.9% to 1.49 million mt. Steel product sales grew 7.9% to 1.47 million mt, including exports of 266,000 mt, up 33.7%.
Tokyo Steel kept its forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027: revenue of JPY 326 billion, operating profit of JPY 1 billion and net profit of JPY 7 billion. The company expects higher prices to feed through to shipments and further cost cuts to help restore operating profitability.
