In a preview of third-quarter results, Brazilian iron ore and pellet producer Samarco said its total iron ore and pellet production reached 4.1 million tonnes, the highest since resumption of operations, up from 3.9 million tonnes in the previous quarter.
Samarco product sales were consistent with the same production volume in both quarters, with the average pellet price reaching $ 120.9/mt versus $128.9/mt previously, and the combined price of pellets and iron ore reached $110.8/mt versus $121.1/mt previously.
Compared to the third quarter of 2024, production increased by 64 percent, sales increased by 108 percent, the average price of pellets decreased by 18 percent, and the average price combined pellets and iron ore decreased by 25 percent.
The company said the positive operating performance reflected the completion of the second phase ramp-up, coupled with continued supply flow in the quarter.
