Kametstal, a subsidiary of the Ukrainian mining and metallurgical group Metinvest, has launched a large-scale investment project to reconstruct the coke oven disintegration shop building, built in 1947. The goal of the project is to restore the load-bearing capacity of the structure, improve operational safety and extend service life.
The reconstruction project, which is planned to last until 2027, includes several key activities, such as strengthening concrete columns, floors and walls to improve structural stability, dismantling unused floors to reduce the load on load-bearing elements and installing new support structures for the main process equipment.
According to Kametstal, the first stage of the investment project implemented without stopping production. The plant has optimized its operating schedule to minimize downtime and reduce energy consumption costs. Coal preparation is carried out during night shifts, and construction work is carried out during day shifts.
Kametstal stressed that these efforts are part of a broader program of sustainable modernization and improved industrial safety at all coke plants.
