The government of the western Indian state of Goa has begun the process of auctioning 10 idle iron ore dumps with an estimated combined volume of 22 million tons, a government official said on Monday, November 10.
The official said the auction to transfer 10 idle iron ore dumps to private mining companies will be completed by January 2026
Bidders will be asked to submit detailed project reports (DPRs) on their landfill disposal plans after the auction is completed and handed over, he added.
Each DPR must include a logistics plan, evacuation program, waste and safety management, environmental management and closure plan, he said.
