Queensland's coal exports decreased by one percent in October 2025

In October of this year, coal exports from the Australian ports of Hay Point, Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal (DBCT), Abbott Point and Gladstone, located in Queensland, decreased by one percent year-on-year and decreased by 3.1 percent month-on-month to 16.52 million tons, according to data released by North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation and Gladstone Ports Corporation.

In particular, coal exports from Australia's Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal (DBCT) totaled 5.08 million tons this month, which is 11.2 percent less than last year. Meanwhile, shipments from Hay Point rose 6.6 percent year-on-year to 2.89 million tons in October, while shipments from Abbott Point totaled 2.54 million tons, down 3.4 percent year-on-year. In addition, coal exports from the port of Gladstone increased by 6.7 percent compared to the same month in 2024 to 5.9 million tons in October.

In October, shipments from Gladstone to South Korea accounted for 28.7 percent of total exports, while shipments to Japan, India, and Vietnam accounted for 22.3 percent, 17.2 percent, and 10.5 percent, respectively.

At the same time, the total volume of coal supplies from the ports under consideration in January-October of this year amounted to 158.76 million tons, SteelOrbis became aware.
