Brazilian iron ore and pellet producer Samarco posted a net loss of $1.05 billion for the third quarter of 2025, compared with a net loss of $6.44 billion for the same period in 2024.
Despite the positive operating performance, the loss still reflects costs related to the Mariana Dam failure in 2015
Net sales, revenue increased 52 percent to $440.2 million, and EBITDA increased 47 percent to $230 million.
The company said the result was negatively impacted by $730.8 million due to currency fluctuations, as well as $319.7 million in financial costs related to repairs related to the accident at Mariana.
In terms of production and sales volumes of iron ore and pellet production volume reached 4.1 million tons, which is 64 percent more, while the average selling price of pellets decreased by 18 percent to $120.9 per ton
