The new line is designed to process 1.8 million tonnes of steel strip per year and will be an important part of Tata Steel UK's plan to modernize its operations and reduce carbon emissions across the value chain. The line is scheduled to be commissioned in 2028, according to a statement from the Iibach.
The Miebach system is designed to meet the high demands of continuous steel production and will be easily integrated into the new Tata Steel production line. The company's laser welding technology offers:
- Compatible with strips from 1.4mm to 6.2mm thick
- Continuous line integration for continuous production flow
- Strong welds suitable for various steel grades
- Compatible with cold rolling, ensuring smooth processing in the downward direction
- High process stability and maximum operational availability
By providing a high-precision coil connection, the Miebach laser welding system should increase output, reduce downtime, and maintain stable product quality, key factors in an efficient low-carbon production environment.
