Import of slabs to Turkey increased by 8.6 percent in January-September 2025

In September of this year, the import of slabs to Turkey amounted to 294,309 metric tons, which is 12.5 percent less than in August and 28.5 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, revenue from these imports totaled $134.97 million, down 20.9% from the previous month and 30.3% year-on-year.

In the period from January to September, imports of slabs to Turkey totaled 2.98 million tons, an increase of 8.6 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by four percent to $1.44 billion, year-on-year.

During the specified period, Russia was the largest source of slab imports to Turkey, which supplied 1.53 million tons, which is 49.5% more than last year. Russia is followed by Malaysia with 724,373 tons, which is 28.0 percent less, and Algeria with 440,973 tons, which is 771 percent more compared to the same period last year.
