Iron ore imports to Turkey decreased by 7.1 percent in January-September 2025

In September of this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 975,684 metric tons, up 16 percent from August and down 5.9 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, revenue from these imports amounted to $100.56 million, an increase of 18% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 12.7% year-on-year.

In the first nine months of the year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 7.56 million tons, which is 7.1 percent less, while the value of these imports decreased by 22.1 percent to $797.52 million, year-on-year.

During the specified period, Brazil was the largest source of iron ore imports to Turkey with 4.83 million tons, which is 12.6% more than in the previous year. Brazil is followed by Sweden with 660,718 tons and Uzbekistan with 593,535 tons, which is 19.9% and 12.2% less compared to the same period last year.
