According to the Chinese customs authorities, in the period from January to October of this year, exports of steel bars from China amounted to 15.55 million tons, which is 45.9 percent more than last year, and exports of wire rod amounted to 2.43 million tons, which is 12.3 percent more than last year. At the same time, China's exports of corners/channels for this period amounted to 6.45 million tons, an increase of 33.9 percent year-on-year.
In October alone, China's exports of steel bars, wire rods, and corners/channels totaled 1.62 million tons, 210,000 tons, and 690,000 tons, or 28.1 percent, a decrease of 5.1 percent and an increase of 9.7 percent year-on-year, with a decrease of 3.6 percent, 22.2 percent, and 5.5 percent month-on-month, respectively.
