According to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in September of this year, pig iron imports to Turkey amounted to 182,852 metric tons, which is 115.5 percent more than in August and 71.3 percent more year-on-year. Meanwhile, the value of these imports amounted to $62.26 million, an increase of 105.4 percent compared to the previous month and 101.9 percent year-on-year.
In the first nine months of the year, Turkey's pig iron imports totaled 1.67 million tons, up 71.3 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 44.0 percent to $605.69 million, year-on-year.
Import of pig iron to Turkey - the last 12 months
During the specified period, Russia was the largest source of pig iron imports to Turkey, which supplied 1.29 million tons, which is 106.3 percent more than last year. Russia is followed by Kazakhstan with 131,545 tons, which is six percent more, and Germany with 55,997 tons, which is 125.5 percent more compared to the same period last year.
