Global DRI production decreased by 1.4 percent in October 2025

According to data released by the World Steel Association (Worldsteel), global direct reduction iron (DRI) production in 12 countries, accounting for approximately 85 percent of total global DRI production in 2024, totaled 11.34 million metric tons in October this year, an increase of 2.4 percent per month and a decrease in by 1.4 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, global DRI production totaled 106.74 million metric tons in the first ten months of this year, up 4.4 percent from the corresponding period in 2024.

Worldsteel data shows that India was the largest producer of DRI among the countries surveyed in October this year, with DRI production totaling 4.88 million metric tons in that month. India was followed in October by Iran, Egypt and Russia with production volumes of 3.92 million tons, 612,000 tons and 600,000 tons, respectively.
