According to SECEX, Brazil's foreign trade body, Brazil exported 159,592 tons of finished carbon steel products in October at a price of 111.238 million US dollars, and imported 313,148 tons at a price of 215.483 million US dollars.
For comparison, Brazil exported 140,859 tons of finished carbon steel products at a price of 104.104 million US dollars and imported 252,822 tons worth $176.279 million in September.
The figures for October indicate a commercial deficit of 153,555 tons against a deficit of 111,692 tons in September
In dollar terms, there was a deficit of $104.245 million in August, compared with a deficit of $72.174 million in September.
In terms of volume, the main exports in September were coated rolled products (45 percent), CRC (15 percent), coated flat rolled products (11 percent) and rebar (10 percent).
The main imports in September were coated rolled products (61 percent), rebar (11 percent), wire rod (8 percent) and CRC (7 percent).
