Tangshan Haitai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. ("Haitai Solar"), the developer of the Zhangjiakou-Tangshan hydrogen pipeline, announced that the project is on track. The length of the pipeline will be 1,037.82 km, and its commercial operation is scheduled for the end of 2026.
According to the developer, the pipeline starts at the Kangbao hydrogen production plant in Zhangjiakou and ends in the Caofeidian district of Tangshan, connecting more than 20 cities. The diameter of the pipeline is 813 mm, the pressure is 7.2 MPa. The pipeline's capacity is 1.55 million tons of hydrogen per year, one of the largest in the world.
Through this clean hydrogen pipeline project, we were able to clearly see China's ambition and determination to decarbonize its metallurgy industry through hydrogen metallurgy. The construction cost is estimated at 845 million US dollars.
