Taiwan's CSC has been reducing emissions by 6.86 percent since 2018.

Тайваньская CSC сокращает выбросы на 6,86 процента с 2018 года.
Taiwan's largest steelmaker, China Steel Corporation (CSC), announced that it has achieved a 6.86 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to 2018, marking another step in its long-standing decarbonization program. The company also receives the Ministry of Economy award for the 15th consecutive year, which highlights its consistent progress in reducing industrial emissions.

In 2024, CSC presented 173 projects to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, ranging from digital energy systems to furnace optimization programs. According to the Taiwan Green Productivity Foundation, these projects combined have reduced emissions by 102,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.

Cumulative emissions reduction and performance in 2018-2024

Between 2018 and 2024, CSC implemented 1,281 carbon reduction measures, achieving a cumulative annual reduction of 1.5157 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. The reduction achieved in 2024 alone represents a decrease of 6.86 percent compared to 2018, reflecting steady progress across several production units.

Among CSC's initiatives for 2024, the most significant effect in a single project was the introduction of an intelligent furnace temperature control system in a small steel billet factory. The system has reduced emissions by about 3,889 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year.

The improvements also resulted in annual cost savings of about 29 million Taiwan dollars (US$ 925,666).

CSC's path to achieving Taiwan's carbon neutrality goal by 2050

CSC said it was accelerating work in several areas. to support Taiwan's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The company continues to explore the possibilities of low-carbon iron production, while expanding the use of artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and digital control technologies to improve process efficiency.
