Brazil's COMEX foreign trade authority reported average freight rates for the country's steel imports in October.
For coated sheets, they were $56/t from China, $174/t from South Korea, $89/t from Japan, $44/t from Germany and $106/t from India. For HRC: $98/t from South Korea, 22 US dollars per ton from Austria and 62 US dollars per ton from China. For CRC: 70 US dollars per ton from South Korea, 47 US dollars per ton from China and 25 US dollars per ton from Egypt. For rebar: $78/t from Russia, $79/t from China and $34/t from Egypt. Laying costs were $141/t from China, $32/t from Egypt, $23/t from Turkey and $142/t from South Korea. For beams: $63/t from China and $24/t from Turkey. For wire rod: $57/t from China, $61/t from Russia, $33/t from Egypt and $20/t from Germany. In September, Brazil's imports of finished steel products from China by volume were equivalent to 74 percent of the total, up from 52 percent in September.
