On November 24, the Chinese steel company Yukun Steel Group, located in Yunnan province, fully launched its modernized facilities after implementing a capacity replacement and modernization project. The project was implemented over five years with a total investment of 23 billion yuan ($3.2 billion).
The overall project included two 1,200 cubic meter blast furnaces, two 1,250 cubic meter blast furnaces, three 100 ton converters, one 120 ton converter and eight steel rolling lines. The project's capacity is 4.56 million tons of molten iron and 5.15 million tons of steel, which will allow an annual production volume of more than 36 billion yuan ($5.1 billion).
