According to customs statistics, in October of this year, exports of Japanese ferrous scrap amounted to 749,537 tons, which is 34.5% more than 557,091 tons in the same month of the previous year. In the period from January to October of this year, the country exported 6.42 million tons of scrap, which is 22.8 percent more than in the previous year.
During this period, Vietnam was the largest importer of Japanese scrap, importing 2.78 million tons, up 38.8 percent from the previous year. Vietnam was followed by Bangladesh and South Korea, which imported 1.15 million tons and 1.05 million tons of scrap, which are 129.2% and 20.5% less year-on-year, respectively.
Meanwhile, exports of Japanese scrap to Taiwan totaled 364,871 tons in January-October of this year, compared with 544,377 tons in the same period of the previous year.
