Fuat Tosyaly: Strategic measures can enhance the competitiveness of Turkish producers

In a report by the Turkish newspaper Ekonomim, Fuat Tosyali, chairman of the Turkish company Tosyalı Holding, said that strategic protection measures are necessary for the Turkish steel industry amid the growing oversupply of the global steel market and unfair competition from China. Noting that global trade has faced serious challenges over the past two years, Mr. Tosyaly added that geopolitical events and uncertainty around tariffs continued to affect countries and industries throughout 2025.

Stressing that Turkish manufacturers are experiencing difficulties in their domestic market, Tosyali stressed that not only companies trading domestically, but also export-oriented manufacturers must be protected.

Green steel and sustainable production as priorities

Stating that Tosyalı Holding pays special attention to investments in sustainability, efficiency and scaling, the chairman of the company stated that in 2025 the company plans to cover almost half of its own energy consumption due to the 1.2 GW solar power plant project.

He added that the company is developing hydrogen facilities to promote the use of clean energy and reduce carbon dioxide emissions, stressing that competitiveness will increasingly depend on green transformation.

Production growth and global position

Year-n. Tosyaly stressed that over the past five years, the company has increased global steel production by 110 percent. He added that Tosyalı Holding aims to become one of the 20 largest steel companies in the world over the next five years.
