Japan's industrial output increased by 1.4 percent in October 2025 compared with September

In October of this year, Japan's industrial production grew by 1.4 percent month-on-month and by 1.5 percent compared to the same month in 2024, according to preliminary indexes of the industrial production report published by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI).

On the other hand, in October, Japan's iron and steel production index decreased by 2.1 percent year-on-year, while Japan's seasonally adjusted iron and steel production index decreased by 0.8 percent in this month compared to September. Meanwhile, in October, shipments of iron and steel by Japanese manufacturers decreased by three percent, while iron and steel stocks increased by 1.3 percent compared to the previous month.

Japan's industrial production is expected to contract by 1.2 percent in November and by two percent in December, both on a monthly basis, according to the ministry's manufacturing forecast study. Meanwhile, Japan's iron and steel production is expected to grow by 2.2 percent in November and 1.6 percent in December, month on month.
