Scrap imports to Turkey decreased by 7.3 percent in January-October 2025

In October of this year, the volume of scrap imports to Turkey decreased by 12.2 percent year-on-year and by 24 percent month-on-month to 1.29 million metric tons, according to data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports amounted to $464.39 million, a decrease of 21.2% year-on-year and 24.7% month-on-month.

In the first ten months of the year, scrap metal imports to Turkey amounted to 15.23 million tons, which is 7.3 percent less, while the value of these imports decreased by 17.5 percent to $5.68 billion, year-on-year.

Scrap imports to Turkey - for the last 12 months

During the specified period, Turkey imported 2.96 million tons of scrap from the United States, which is 23.5% less year-on-year, with the United States being the leading source of scrap imports to Turkey, ahead of the Netherlands, which supplied 2.29 million tons in the specified period, which is three years more than last year, and the United Kingdom, which supplied 1.83 million tons of scrap, which is three percent more year-on-year.
