Exports of wire rod from Brazil reached 28,000 tons in December against 15,400 tons in November, according to the SECEX foreign trade agency.
The destinations in December were South America (17,000 tons at a price of 607 US dollars per ton), the Dominican Republic (4,000 tons at a price of 525 US dollars per ton), the USA (3,900 tons at $702/ton), Guatemala (2,500 tons at $515/ton) and Canada (600 tons at $872/ton), FOB terms.
The exporters were ArcelorMittal (21,300 tons) and Gerdau (6,700 tons).
While Brazil imported 3,500 tons. wire rods in December versus 6,500 tons in November.
The sources of imports were China (2,200 tons at $529/ton), Egypt (1,200 tons at $589/ton) and Germany (100 tons at $936/ton), also on FOB terms.
In 2025 Brazil exported 276,100 tons and imported 193,200 tons of wire rod last year, compared to 218,800 tons and 211,000 tons in 2024, respectively.
