China's steel industry's PPI decreased by 7.7 percent in 2025

In December last year, China's Producer price index (PPI) for its ferrous metals smelting and rolling sector decreased 4.7 percent year-on-year, 0.5 percentage points slower than the rate of decline recorded in November, while it decreased 0.1 percent month-on-month, according to the data, published by the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS). In 2025, China's total PPI for its ferrous metals smelting and rolling sector decreased by 7.7 percent year-on-year.

China's total PPI declined 1.9 percent year-on-year in December, while it grew 0.2 percent month-on-month. Also in December, the purchase prices of Chinese industrial producers decreased by 2.1 percent year-on-year and increased by 0.4 percent compared to November last year.

In 2025, China's total PPI decreased by 2.6 percent year-on-year, while the purchase prices of Chinese industrial producers decreased by 3.0 percent year-on-year.
