Iberdrola Germany completes construction of a 65 MW solar power plant to supply Salzgitter with renewable energy

Iberdrola Germany завершает строительство солнечной электростанции мощностью 65 МВт для снабжения Зальцгиттера возобновляемой энергией
Iberdrola Germany, a subsidiary of Spanish energy producer Iberdrola, has announced the completion of a 65 MW solar power plant in Saxony-Anhalt, which will further expand the use of renewable energy sources in Germany.

The solar installation covers about 45 hectares and is equipped with more than 92,000 photovoltaic modules.

Long-term PPA with Salzgitter AG

All electricity generated by the solar park will be supplied under an electricity purchase agreement (PPA) to German steel producer Salzgitter AG, supporting the production of environmentally friendly steel and the latter's broader decarbonization strategy, strengthening the role of direct renewable energy sources in transforming energy-intensive industries.

The solar power plant is expected to produce about 60 GWh of electricity per year, which is enough to supply more than 20,000 households. The annual reduction of carbon dioxide emissions is estimated at more than 23,000 tons.

Support for industrial electrification

All electricity generated will be integrated into Salzgitter AG's steel production, supporting the decarbonization of one of Europe's most energy-intensive industrial sectors.

For Iberdrola, the project positions renewable electricity as the cornerstone of industrial production. electrification and development of a low-carbon value chain in Germany.
