The Luxembourg-based stainless and specialty steel producer has issued an update on its market and financial outlook ahead of a quiet period ahead of the release of quarterly results on 6 February 2026.
Market conditions under pressure
Market conditions in Europe remain challenging, with the order book showing no signs of recovery and any increase in demand due only to seasonal effects, according to the manufacturer. In Brazil, demand was further weakened by seasonality, while the market also faced pricing pressure from stainless steel imports.
The company said its alloys segment was negatively impacted by seasonality and maintenance work on a key asset that has now returned to service. However, as previously forecast, demand for oil and gas remains weak.
Regulatory measures will have limited impact
A number of European Commission trade protection measures are still under discussion and require formal adoption, according to Aperam. As a result, no significant impact is expected until July 1, 2026. The company also confirmed that the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will initially have a limited impact, with benefits expected to build gradually over the coming years, in accordance with the published implementation schedule.
