Ukraine's Kametstal will complete a major repair program in 2025, despite the war

The Ukrainian Metallurgical Plant Kametstal, a subsidiary of the Ukrainian mining and metallurgical group Metinvest, announced the completion of its most ambitious overhaul program since the beginning of the war, completing a wide range of major repairs and modernization work at key production facilities in 2025.

Major repairs of furnaces and converters completed

Despite ongoing logistical and energy instability problems, Kametstal has carried out major repairs, including the overhaul of blast furnace No. 9 and comprehensive maintenance of the main equipment on both converters. The program also included major repairs of the ladle furnace and continuous casting machine No. 1.

The overhaul also covered significant repairs at the profile rolling mill and the pipe billet mill.

Infrastructure modernization

Additional work completed in 2025 included the construction and commissioning of new medium- and high-pressure above-ground water pipes, and improvements to the water supply infrastructure for key technological processes, especially in the converter and lime burning workshops.

Kametstal stated that the completed overhaul program and related achievements reflect the collective efforts to strengthen the sustainability of the plant, support regional economic stability, and lay the foundations for future growth despite current challenges.
