According to Statistics Canada, the country's iron and steel imports totaled 1.15 million tonnes in October 2025, down 70.0 percent from last year. In value terms, iron and steel imports totaled $913.16 million in October 2025, up from $1.01 billion in the same month in 2024.
Canada imported the most iron and steel from the United States in that month, at 301,155 tons. The other top source of iron and steel imports in October included China with 45,568 tonnes.
Between January and October last year, Canada's iron and steel imports totaled 15.84 million tonnes, down 20.1 per cent from last year. In value terms, iron and steel imports totaled $8.83 billion in the first 10 months of 2025, up from $10.28 billion in the corresponding period in 2024.
