Last November, hot-rolled sheet shipments to Japan fell 1.1 percent from the previous month and rose 6.4 percent from 598,863 tons recorded in the same month in 2024 to 641,634 metric tons, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). In the said month, 73.3 percent of shipments came from the domestic market, while the remaining 26.7 percent came from export markets. In the month, Japan's hot-rolled sheet production totaled 672,937 tons, up 2.8 percent month-on-month and 18 percent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, hot-rolled strip shipments to Japan totaled 1.24 million tons in December, up 0.4 percent year-on-year. compared to the previous month and decreased by 9.5% year on year. 23.0% of supplies were made to the domestic market, and the remaining 77.0% to export markets. Japan's hot strip production this month was 1.21 million tons, down 3.7 percent month-on-month and down 9.4 percent year-on-year.
