libyan Iron and Steel Company (LISCO), one of North Africa's leading steel producers, has completed the commissioning and testing phase of its new cold rolling mill project, marking a significant step in expanding libya's sheet steel processing capabilities, according to media reports. The new plant has an annual production capacity of approximately 200,000 tons of cold-rolled coils and strips.
The new cold rolling mill is expected to strengthen LISCO's downstream steel production capabilities, allowing the company to produce higher value-added flat steel for both domestic and export markets.
LISCO expands its value-added steel production cost
The commissioning of the cold rolling mill is part of LISCO's broader modernization and diversification strategy aimed at increasing production efficiency and reducing libya's dependence on imported sheet steel.
Cold rolled steel products are widely used in:
- automotive,
- household machinery,
- construction materials,
- industrial equipment,
- manufacturing sectors requiring higher surface quality and tighter tolerances.
Successful completion of the test confirms the operational readiness of the facility and supports LISCO's plans to expand its product range beyond hot rolled steel products.
The project was implemented by the Turkish company Partner
