Steel imports to the United States in April 2026 increased by 7.6 percent compared with March

According to preliminary data from the US Department of Commerce, monthly steel imports to the US in April this year increased by 7.6 percent compared to March and decreased by 8.2 percent year-on-year, amounting to 1,730,765 tons. In value terms, U.

S. steel imports totaled $1.75 billion in April, compared with $1.6 million in March and $2.19 billion in April 2025.

The largest sources of steel imports to the United States in April include: South Korea with 264,056 tons, Canada with 243,415 tons, Brazil with 195,354 tons and Mexico with 170,641 tons.

By product group, imports of semi-finished products amounted to 443,025 tons in April, compared with 405,057 tons in March and 412,511 tons in April 2025. Imports of flat rolled products in April totaled 481,952 tons, compared with 472,651 tons in March and a decrease from 652,779 tons. In April 2025, imports of long products amounted to 433,181 tons, compared with 349,879 tons in March and 318,924 tons in April last year. Imports of pipes and tubes totaled 292,492 tons in April, compared with 304,072 tons in March and 419,399 tons in April 2025.
