Japan's export orders for new vessels in August 2026 decreased by 63.6% compared to July

According to the Japan Ship Exporters Association (JSEA), in August, Japan's export orders for new vessels decreased by 63.6% in tonnage compared to the previous month and amounted to 8 vessels, all bulk carriers, with a total volume of 317,900 gross tons. In July, 22 orders were placed for vessels with a total displacement of 873,780 gross tons.

During the period from January to August, Japanese shipbuilders received 141 new export orders with a total displacement of 6.19 million tons, which is 7.1% more than in the same period last year.

At the same time, in August, Japan exported 6 vessels with a total displacement of 266,847 gross tons, while in July this figure was 24 vessels with a total displacement of 1.1 million gross tons.

In general, from January to August, Japan exported 134 vessels with a total displacement of 6.09 million gross tons, which is 3.8% more year-on-year.
