The German equipment manufacturer SMS group has received two separate contracts for the supply of mobile grate pelletizing plants with a total production capacity of 5.1 million tons per year to the Chinese province of Hebei. The equipment will be supplied to Ganglu Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. and Jinan Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd., which are part of Jinan Steel Group.
Ganglu pig iron and steel pelletizing plant with a capacity of 2.4 million tons per year The year will be located in Tangshan, while the Jinan Metallurgical Plant with a capacity of 2.7 million tons per year will be built in Uan. Both facilities will be integrated into the companies' existing steel mills, and commissioning is scheduled for the end of the year. 2027.
SMS will introduce optimized cooling technology in China
As part of these projects, SMS group will introduce its optimized thermal cooling system in China for the first time. Thanks to this technology, the exhaust gas circulates inside the system replaces exhaust gas disposal and is expected to reduce fuel consumption by up to 20%, and the volume of exhaust gases in the plant by more than 30%.
SMS group stated that the projects are developed taking into account the environmental requirements of customers and are designed to ensure reliable, efficient and high-quality production of pellets. The equipment supplier also plans to reduce the delivery time to 11 months to support the project schedule.
The plants will use a management system Pretium
SMS Agglomeration will provide mobile grid pelletizing technology, as well as a Pretium management system for both enterprises. The system will provide an automated platform for operations focused on key performance indicators and will support process management, operator training during construction and commissioning, as well as digital applications designed to optimize production and energy consumption, emissions, and operational readiness of the plant.
At the same time, Beijing Shougang International Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. (BSIET) will act as the design, procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for the two projects. SMS group and BSIET previously collaborated on projects in China and earlier this year extended the joint cooperation agreement.
According to SMS group, these two projects represent its agglomeration, the first successful business project in China since SMS Agglomeration became part of the company.
