Chile’s economy grew 0.2% in September 2026 from a year earlier, the country’s Central Bank said. The modest increase reflected a downturn in mining, particularly copper production.
The IMACEC index of economic activity fell 12.1% year over year in the mining sector. Excluding mining, the index would have risen 1.4%, the central bank said.
Goods production declined 2% over the year, while manufacturing and trade each gained 4.5% and services rose 0.9%. Compared with August, IMACEC increased 1.9%.
On a monthly basis, goods production rose 3.2%, mining 9.8%, manufacturing 1.3%, trade 2.5% and services 0.9%.
