Negotiations on shipment of hot-rolled steel in rolls for the next quarter (October-December) are in full swing for Asia. Already in the first week of September, Japanese plants are on the way to increase prices for shipping these products in October by $ 50 from the price of September. If they achieve the intended goal, then prices can come very close to the level of $ 600.
Market prices in China maintain growth trend and have already risen by $ 20 from the price of July for shipment in the second half of August and September. In Korea, Hyundai Steel, Dongbu Steel and Posco said they were going to increase prices for distributors from 18 to 27 dollars. It was noted that prices rose already at the end of last week.
In addition, the fire in Korea that arose last week at Gwangyang, the second steel -smelter Posco plant, will require more than 10 days to eliminate the consequences, replace hydraulic jack and restore work. It is predicted that during these days, raw steel production will decrease by 250 thousand tons. The company notes that it was decided not to reduce the production of cold -rolled and colored steel sheets, but transfer all the hardships to hot -rolled steel in rolls. In addition, in this country, the accident occurred at the Hyundai Steel in June and its production tends to decrease. Therefore, due to the difficult situation in Korea, the supply of hot rolons is delayed.
In Japan, some plants also plan to maintain domain furnaces, so the production of rolls may be reduced, affecting the volume of export. At the same time, proposals from Taiwanese factories were not found. These points will contribute to the tightening of supplies.
In such conditions, multiple Japanese factories are going to raise prices for $ 50 to ship hot -rolled rolls in the next quarter and want these prices to return to the level of early spring before the fall in prices. Although there are some plants that negotiate about increasing prices for shipping hot rolons in September.
