The metallurgical plant located in the Welsh city of Port Telbot, which is one of the largest in the UK and belonging to the Indian company Tata Steel, has become the most “pure” and highly producing in Europe. This was stated by the leadership of the plant represented by Director John Ferriman.
According to the data provided, for August 2013, the enterprise did not reveal a single violation in terms of excesses of harmful gases and dust into the atmosphere. This indicator in Port Telbot was achieved for the first time, so this fact is a kind of record.
Tata Steel has achieved such a success thanks to the creation of a special working group in July this year, the purpose of which was to develop and implement measures to reduce the result of harmful emissions that pollute the environment. Also, members of the group were to develop measures to improve the production process at the enterprise in Port Telbot. As a result, experts managed to achieve excellent result, the proof of this was the reduction of the number of complaints from local residents regarding pollution. About how much funds were spent on the implementation of events are not reported to Tata Steel.
The Welsh Plant also managed to achieve record performance, and the domain furnaces of the enterprise today are the most effective and highly producing in Europe. In August, an average of 84,500 tons of metal was smelted at the plant in Port Telbot. The previous production record, equal to 82800 tons of metal per week, was installed by the plant in 2007. In many ways, this success of the metallurgists from Port Telbot helped the commissioning of the newly rebuilt domain furnace No. 4.
