Today, the South Korean Metallurgical Company Hyundai Steel solemnly launches a third domain furnace with a capacity of 4 million tons of steel per year. Against the backdrop of competitors' fears about the excess supply of metal products, the total metallurgical power of the Hyundai Steel will reach 24 million tons of raw steel per year.
Hyundai Steel is a member of the Hyundai Motor group that produces the same machines. Its owner, billionaire Jong Mong-Ku, said that from now on his company would take 11th place among the largest metallurgical companies in the world, having risen there from 31 places in 2006.
Meanwhile, local analysts are concerned about an additional offer of steel and especially leaf rolling for shipbuilding, which will arise against the backdrop of an unbalanced market today.
“I am not very concerned about the excess of the proposal for the auto industry, but the shipbuilding sector is a completely different matter. Demand from shipbuilding collapsed and the additional volumes of the sentence will only aggravate the situation,” says Hanwha Securities analyst Kim Kan-He.
"The launch of the third blast furnace will pose a further threat to Posco, which sets the tasks to increase sales to foreign car manufacturers," said Choi Moon-san, analyst Korea Investment & Securities.
