In the United States, the International Trade Commission at the next meeting voted to extend existing trade restrictions on large -diameter trunk pipes imported into the United States from Japan. For the second time, a decision was made to continue the existing anti -dumping measures.
During the proceedings, it was found that the import of certain welded pipes of large diameter from Japan with a high probability will lead to the continuation or resume of material damage to the US steel industry, which was declared to representatives of the Japanese steel industry. As a result of a positive decision of the commission, the existing order of import of this product from Japan will remain on the previous conditions.
The current agreements require the Ministry of Trade to withdraw anti -dumping or compensation duties in five years, if it is established that their cancellation will not lead to material damage in reasonably visible time. Today's action falls under consideration, which is required by the law on agreements.
The public report of the Commission “Some of the Large Diameter of the line from Japan” determines that the Ministry of Trade has come to the conclusion that the priority attention should be paid to protecting the interests of the American steel industry. This led to the continuation of anti -dumping measures that were introduced for more than ten years.
Representatives of the Japanese steel industry were very disappointed with this decision and consider it unfair. They stated that they were going to carefully study the report of the commission and determine the corresponding course of actions for the future.
