10 most polluted cities in China

The China Ministry of Environmental Protection published data according to which the most polluted cities are in the north of the country. This is due to a large concentration of coal power plants in this region.

It was found that the most polluted city in 2013 is Shijiajuan, and Tanshan, a city in Hebei province, became the second of the worst cities, both are northern China.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection of China published information about air quality in 74 cities of the country. 10 The most polluted cities were recognized: 1. Shijiajuan; 2. Tanshan; 3. Xingtayi; 4. Handan; 5. Jinan; 6. Baoine; 7. Zhenzhou; 8. Beijing; 9. Hengshui; 10. Tyanjin.

In addition to Jinan and Zhengzhou, all other cities are located in the Peking-Tenjin-Hebei region. In this region, air quality was bad last year. At the same time, in Beijing and Tianjin, air quality fell noticeably. It is noted that the concentration of four main pollutants steadily increases, including the content of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide.

Since this year, in Beijing, the PM2.5 standard was used to determine the quality of the air, taking into account the presence of ultra -small particles in the air, which is considered a more accurate indicator, and before the PM10 standard was used, which takes into account suspended particles up to 10 microns.
