According to the Association of Metallurgprom enterprises, in the first eight months since the beginning of 2013, Ukrainian fleets reduced the volume of metal products by 10.7 percent, to 83 billion 300 million UAH compared to APPG-2012. In addition, metallurgical production in Ukraine, according to enterprises, increased losses with 7.9 percent of negative profitability in APPG -2012, to 8.7 percent in January - August 2013.
According to Metallurgprom, the main reason for the growing relative losses is low prices for metal rolling and the lack of stable demand in both domestic and foreign markets.
The Ukrainian oligarchs and their managers justify the reduction of jobs that have reached 8.3 percent of the average number of personnel occupied in metallurgy (147 thousand people) last year last year.
The decrease in the number is mainly due to its optimization, to outsource the functions of auxiliary services at metallurgical enterprises, the Metallurgprom OP said.
Meanwhile, the average wages at the enterprises of the ferrous metallurgy of Ukraine in August 2013 amounted to 5195 UAH, which is 13.7 percent higher than in August last year.
Ukrainian metallurgists have been working at a loss for the second year in a row
